Getting Started

Information for New Members

Whether you want to learn the basics, become a racer, or simply enjoy a relaxing sail on the Charles River, the Universal Access Program is dedicated to meeting you where you are and supporting you every step of the way.

All new UAP members should sign up for a 90-minute Universal Access Program Orientation Sail. A confirmation email will be sent with the necessary membership paperwork, which should be completed prior to your arrival at CBI. The orientation session includes an overview of our program and a guided sail in a Sonar sailboat. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete the sign-up process.

If your child is between the ages of 10 and 17 and would like to participate in the Junior Program with additional support through UAP, please reach out to our Junior Program Director, Kate, at [email protected] for more information.

Information for Groups

UAP collaborates with a variety of hospitals, schools, day programs, care facilities, and more to provide meaningful sailing experiences. Groups are welcome to sign up for UAP together and participate in customized sailing classes or recreational boat rides tailored to their needs. To schedule a group appointment, please contact Amelia, our Universal Access Program Associate Director, at [email protected].

UAP Orientation Sail Sign-up

Can’t find a time that works for you? Reach out to Amelia, our Universal Access Program Associate Director, at [email protected] for assistance.

Once you’ve completed the sign-up process, an instructor will guide you through an orientation of the facility, introduce you to the various boats and adaptive equipment, and help you set personalized sailing goals. Whether you’re brand new to sailing or have extensive experience on the water, UAP offers something for everyone.
