Instructor-in-Training (IIT) Program

The Instructor-in-Training (IIT) volunteer program gives Juniors and opportunity to give back to CBI while gaining responsibility and recognition in the Junior Program community. IITs assist with classes, shadow instructors, help boats cast off, dock, rig and unrig, and take less experienced members out sailing for extra practice.

IITs must be at least 12 years old and have their Helmsman rating or higher. They are seen as role models for other Juniors and are expected to set a good example, be patient and respectful, and follow the rules at all times. Failure to do so may result in loss of privleges or removal from the program.

IITs who have volunteered a specified number of hours are allowed to sail until 5:30 in the afternoon. IITs are also invited to take part in special volunteer-only BBQs, breakfasts, and field trips throughout the summer.
